We wanted our menu to be simple for speed and efficiency and reduce line ups but still pack a lot of authentic flavour, so we tortured ourselves for months, eating at some of the best restaurants in Playa del Carmen in search of the perfect cuisine. Originally, we created a large menu then rendered it down to our three favourite main items and some add-ons, which we think you’ll love.
A NEW WAY TO LATE NIGHT SNACK
We founded Humble in the fall of 2019 and have remained dedicated through thick and thin to our passion for customer experience, quality, ambiance and food. Our long term goal and dream was to buy a Mexican themed food truck for late night eats at our weddings and events. Today we’re proud to announce that we’ve successfully secured an amazing Mexican themed food truck that will be available to our events from June 2023.

Our Quest

In search of the most authentic and flavourful Mexican recipes, we jumped in El Bronco and travelled across Mexico, packing on over 14,000 kms, eventually ending our in the centro region of Playa del Carmen.

Spring is Around the Corner at Humble Beginnings Event Venue
It all begins with an idea.
Oh, hi there…
We have an extra pep in our step this time of the year, because Spring is around the corner. When it comes to rustic wedding venues, each season delivers a new ambiance and we think Spring is one of the prettiest. We love seeing Winter fall away as our venue turns green and the flowers bloom. Fresh air, Melting snow and oh yes, Wedding Season is upon us.
Our Wedding Ceremony Space
We’re new-ish so a bit of an introduction is in order. Humble Beginnings is a rustic wedding venue with a modern vibe. We have a beautifully spacious garden gently wrapped around our newly built white rustic gazebo, which we use for outdoor wedding ceremonies. This lush garden that’s framed by giant maple and cedar trees is a naturally gorgeous canvas created by Mother Nature and lends itself as an amazing place to take wedding photos. Our wedding ceremony site can be decorated in many ways, from minimalistic, to rustic, to boho, antique, or you might want to go for a more traditional elegant look. We work very closely with our couples unique visions for their outdoor wedding ceremony and we can't wait to share more photos. Another really great highlight is our unity bridge, which is very close to the ceremony site and is also incredible for wedding photography. We’re absolutely head over heals for intimate and romantic late afternoon and sunset ceremonies as it almost has a dreamy, kind of whimsical ambiance.

Ok so, brace yourself for the ‘R’ word… In the event of rain during the ceremony, we have newly built an open concept, clean and modern indoor ceremony space boasting a massive stone feature wall and a huge fireplace.
The Wedding Reception
After the ceremony, make your way to the main hall showcasing, solid wooden beams, trendy epoxy floors, glam crystal chandeliers, rustic whisky barrels, gold chiavari chairs and clear tiffany chairs. Most of our packages include our in-house professional disc jockey, bbq catering, wedding officiant and open bar options.
We pride ourselves on being flexible, accommodating, and innovative with the most current trends, styles and design – from the moment you meet us, you’ll see why we’re one of the best Ontario wedding venue’s around.
Accommodations:
We are located in the very scenic and beautiful Trent Hills, Ontario which is located in Northumberland County. The majority of our couples are from Trent Hills, Campbellford, Peterborough, Havelock, Hastings, Norwood, Oshawa, Bowmanville, Newcastle and Trenton and love that we have a cottage rental business, right next door.
How Much Does it Cost?
Here’s the thing, we can’t just put a blanket number on it without getting a bit more information first, mostly because no two weddings are the same and every couple has different needs, wants and guest count. Some would prefer a cocktail wedding with a very limited menu and others would like it large with a lot of food. Some prefer an open bar while others would like a cash bar. We always suggest that you budget between $2,500 to $25,000 depending on your individual desires. That said, we really suggest that you come for a book a tour and tell us all about your vision where we can provide you with a tailored quote.
So, Why the Name?
So, why the name Humble Beginnings anyway? I'm Anthony and with my lovely wife Jennifer, we founded this amazing place. The name was inspired by our own story as we both come from a humble past and have put in countless hours to create this venue and through hard work and dedication, we were able to make our dreams a reality. Our goal is to put the same attention, work and dedication into all of our clients day and ensure the day turns out amazing
